Email is incredibly important for a long time to come yet – but two things are critical here:
1. Legal implications:
Between people posting astoundingly dumb things on Facebook etc., that WILL haunt them for years to come, Email is just as dangerous!
Ever more powerful data-mining programs are now routinely used in legal cases, so make sure your signature CLEARLY denotes who you are and your position. NEVER just sign any email personally. You will lose corporate protection and be personally liable.
You can sign as:
Fred -but add your title and responsibility below it in a STANDARD auto signature.

2. NEVER use a freebie email account in your canvassing is correct, but it is so easy to rent a little shared Server for a few bucks per month and use its sub-domain capabilities for each product/project. Vis:

Chris I think I am guilty of all of these 5 deadly mistakes thank you for posting this and giving the reasons for each one.

BTW I highly recommend Club E for your speaking engagements here in the Phoenix area. If you are from out of town this is a great place for small meetings and drop in office space.

I speak here myself and use Club E for my MeetUps too.
